Blacksburg, VA day 3

On my last day down south I stopped by a little place near the Natural Bridge called...wait for it...FOAMHENGE!!! It was a goofy bit of Americana. Some guy decided to carve replicas of the Stonehenge stones out of Styrofoam. It's kinda falling apart in places, but it is foam after all. And it looks like Merlin is surfing...Hang 10 Big M! Then I saw a cool '57 Chevy at lunch.

Blacksburg, VA day 2

I had the crazy idea to go for a hike in the Cascades before the 2pm wedding. I am horrible at timing though and thought I was going to be late. But I actually got there in great time. The wedding was beautiful, gorgeous weather. It was in the Hahn Horticulture Gardens at Virginia Tech. Here's a few pics from that and the flowers and the reception. They had 8 different kinds of cake instead of one. I had a red velvet and vanilla cake one that had the best icing...thank you Joyce for switching me from the one I picked up - it had coconuts... yuck! After wards I walked around campus a bit, and tried to get in a fight with the Hokie Bird statue...

Blacksburg, VA day 1

So, I was invited to Becky and Ben's wedding down in Blacksburg, VA and decided to make a bit of a vacation out of it, where the drive is part of the fun. Anyways. It was a gorgeous day at first, then it poured down rain for a spell and traffic went down to 20 mph on the highway. I then stopped at my first entertainment location: Natural Bridge. I also did my best to contemplate the meaning of living under a bridge (Memoirs of the Billy Goats Gruff...)
The place is a bit of cheesy Americana with a wax museum and goofy sculptures. The look on these guys faces are great! After getting poured on at the bridge (I have great timing) I continued on to Blacksburg, VA to check into the hotel, find food and then sleep - it's a long drive.
