Dupont Circle

Just some pictures from my first night in DC. I didn't get to Dupont Circle until it was already starting to get dark, so not a lot of pictures. It was a really great area! And the Founding Church of Scientology was just a bonus. The church pictures are a bit fuzzy because of the dark and my shaky hands - but still look cool.

New Doublet...problem solved

I tore out the seams on the sides at the bottom, and I like it! I also wore my burgundy sweater underneath, and I really like that color combo instead of the natural shirt...so I think I'll be making another shirt. I want to make a colorless one so it fits better under the doublet. Here are some pics.

New Doublet...solution found?

So I think I figured out what was driving me nuts about the new doublet. Mom suggested pressing it really well, which made it look a lot better. When I tried it on again, I noticed that the actual shape with the bottom (picadils?) flares out, like the doublet was meant to be worn over poofy pants, which makes sense, but I'm not planning to wear them with poofy pants, so I think I'm going to take the side seam out of the bottom part which should get rid of the strange flare.

Defense passed, lion pictures taken

So I passed my PhD Defense this morning, and on my way home I decided I should do what all good PSU students do, take a picture with the Nittany Lion Shrine. So, I attempted to take the pictures myself, and one came out rather artistic, a couple were really goofy, and then some stranger took pics - they're all a bit blurry, and I have my strange smirk in two pictures and my eyes closed in the third. But here they are.
